Kiger Cougar Bobby Ingersoll made his mark on the Quarter Horse world back in 1978. Riding Doc "N Missy, he won the Snaffle Bit Futurity Championship title, and membership in the Working Cow Horse Hall of Fame. Bobby has long been respected in the reining community.
Years ago, while visiting the Burns District, Bureau of Land Management corrals, Bobby noticed a colt who displayed a sense of herding, in the manner of "working" another colt in the pen. With the aid of BLM employees Ron Harding and Josh Warburton, Bobby arranged to adopt the young colt. He named him "Kiger Cougar".
Cougar was given sixty days saddle training and then put on cattle. Over the next two years, he performed in several exhibitions in California, Oregon and Nevada. In August of 1992, at age four, Cougar was shown at the Paso Robles County Fair, where he won first place over all the other breeds in the Snaffle Bit Class. The following month, Cougar was shown at the World's Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity (Reined Cow Horse) in Reno, Nevada. He placed twenty-first overall, in a field of one hundred-forty-six horses, most of which were bred for the task.    Bobby Ingersoll and Kiger Cougar showed the horse world what a Kiger Mustang can do, given the chance.
Today, Kiger Cougar resides at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.

Steens VaqueroSteens Vaquero, aka "Cowboy" was adopted in October of 1999 from the Riddle HMA, by Pam and Matt Fournier, of Bend, Oregon. Within two months, Cowboy was under saddle, and his show career began the following spring at open shows. At his second show, he won the Reserve High Point English Horse, with Pam in the saddle.
Next was the National Wild Horse and Burro Show in Reno Nevada, in June 2000. Pam rode him in every Amateur class and Matt rode him in the following open classes: Showmanship, English Pleasure, Hunter Hack, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Reining and Trail classes. Matt also rode him in the Superhorse competition. Cowboy won Grand Champion Halter Stallion at this event, and placed in performance. At the awards ceremony, Cowboy took the Amateur High Point, the Open High Point, and also won the Superhorse Saddle Trophy.
In 2001, Pam convinced Matt to show Cowboy in ABRA shows. He attended only three ABRA shows that year, yet tied for second in the nation in First Year Green Western Pleasure. He also did well in ABRA Trail in 2001.
In 2002, Cowboy has attended 11 ABRA shows (as of September 2002). He has chalked up an unofficial total of 26 Western Pleasure points, 15 Western Riding points, 5 Hunter Hack points, 27 Trail points, 14 English Pleasure points, 1 Dun Factor point, and 9 Halter points, earned in 14 shows over the last two years. At the most recent ABRA show he went Grand in halter under one of the judges.
At the ABRA World Show, held in July, 2002, Cowboy won World Champion in Western Riding Open, 3rd in the World in English Pleasure Junior Horse, 3rd in the world in Trail Junior Horse and 4th in the world in Hunter Hack Open. Prior to attending the ABRA World Show, Cowboy was listed as First place in Western Pleasure and is in the points race for ABRA Honor Roll in Western Pleasure for 2002.
Steens Vaquero has also earned High Point Kiger Stallion for three consecutive years at Kigerfest, and earned Grand Champion Kiger Halter Stallion at this year's event.
In addition to the Superhorse trophy saddle, Steens Vaquero has earned 13 trophy buckles in the 3 years he has been shown. These include multiple state fair buckles and 2 ABRA buckles.
Pam and Matt will continue to campaign Steens Vaquero, aka "Cowboy". Look for more news about him in the future.
